About Beth Herself
& About Beth’s Beach House NL
If we’re to tell you about Beth’s Beach House here in NL, it’s best to start with Beth herself. This property was once owned by our beloved grandmother Elizabeth (A.K.A. “Beth”). Or “Bet” when pronounced here in NL!
You’ll find a piece of Beth in certain details throughout the house. If you see a gold-plated light switch, it’s a reminder to light up the room with your bright personality as she always did. But if she were here, she’d say “no, that’s a reminder to turn off that light!“
And those little crystal-style doorknobs; that’s a reminder to keep opening doors of possibility and enjoy the little things that make you sparkle as she did. But again, I’m sure she’d say “no, that’s a reminder to close that door behind you!“
Her wit and personality made this place special for all of us and she’s still a big part of our thoughts and this property as it is today.
About Beth’s Big Family
A Large Newfoundland Family of 13
Beth & her husband Jim raised 13 children. Each is amazingly talented in one way or the other, all are very mechanically inclined, crafty, quick-witted, and have the best sense of humour (They got that from their momma)!
- That number of 13 kids then grew to include:
- 24 grandchildren,
- 14 great-grandchildren and
- 2 great-great-grandchildren… and counting!

About Beth’s Big Personality
Full of Wit and Charm
Beth filled our lives with many laughs and her quick wit every time we’d visit. She’d always say “you either lose your mind or your body at my age”. She never lost her mind, but she could give you a piece of it without a blink and would do it in the funniest of ways. She never missed a beat with her quick wit. She may have been in her 90s, but she was truly 20-something inside. Beth was full of life and charm, endlessly entertaining, fun and always up for an adventure. If we gain one percent of Beth’s personality, we’re truly blessed with a gift that no money can buy. We hope you enjoy your stay to the fullest as Beth would have; full of laughter, good times, and filled with good company.
